Russia’s leading DTH platform Tricolor TV saw its revenues grow by 12% to over R21 billion (€277.4 million) in 2018.
At the same time, according to Andrei Nesterov, director of strategic marketing and advertising, speaking at CSTB 2019 in Moscow and quoted by ComNews, its subscriber base fell by 0.4% to 12.22 million and ARPU increased by R113 to R1,678 a year, or almost R140 a month.
Meanwhile, the number of Tricolor TV subscribers receiving HD services stood at 10 million and the Ultra HD subscriber total at 100,000.
Quoting an analyst at iKS Consulting, ComNews points out that Tricolor TV has changed its subscriber counting system and now refers to all those that use its services, rather than just satellite TV, as customers.
Speaking at CSTB 2019, Nesterov also said that Tricolor TV would launch a smart home service in the Central Federal District of Russia in February.
Tricolor TV remains the leading provider of pay-TV services in the country in terms of subscriber numbers, claiming a market share of 28%.
