The Russian cable operator ER Telecom, which employs the brand name Dom.ru, added 465,0000 homes to its network in 2018.
As a result, reports Comnews, it now reaches almost 13.4 million homes in the country. The most new homes added last year were in St Petersburg (66,000), followed by Voronezh (44,00), Saratov (23,000) and Yekatrinburg and Cheboksary (22,000 each).
Dom.ru began to build networks using GPON technology in 2018 and as of last year had already connected 5,000 homes in the private sector using the technology.
Significantly, it expects the figure to increase seven-fold this year, when it will also introduce the new WNGN technology.
More generally, Dom,ru plans to add a further 600,000 homes to its network this year, thereby offering triple-play services to 36 cities throughout Russia.
