Epic Drama expands in Hungary

January 21, 2019 08.53 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Viasat World’s premium channel Epic Drama is now available on both the Magyar Telekom and Vidanet platforms in Hungary.

As a result, it now reaches over 50% of TV subscribers in Hungary, while in the CEE region as a whole it is distributed by over 60 operators to more than 10 million subscribers.

Epic Drama has joined Viasat World’s other flagship channels – Viasat History, Viasat Nature and Viasat Explore – on Magyar Telekom and Vidanet. In the case of Magyar Telekom, it went live on the telco’s IPTV, SAT, TV GO for Super Family/Családi HD and Super Family/Családi Mozi packages on January 8 Furthermore, 250 hours of SVOD content is featured on Magyar Telekom’s monthly on demand service Moziklub.

Meanwhile, Viadnet introduced the channel to its family package subscribers on January 9.

Commenting on the development, Tamas Horvath, commercial director at Viasat World, said: “We pride ourselves on the close working relationship we have with operator partners, understanding their needs and those of the audience in the markets where we broadcast. We are delighted that Magyar Telekom and Vidanet have decided to extend their offering having seen how Epic Drama has resonated with viewers in Hungary over the last 12 months.”

Annamária Rajki, head of TV and entertainment at Magyar Telekom, added: “Our company continuously monitors subscribers’ needs, and we are delighted to be able to broaden our package by offering a high-quality drama channel which stands out from the crowd”.
