Russia’s telecommunications market grew at its fastest rate in five years in 2018.
According to preliminary produced by TMT Consulting and published by AKTR and RBC, it was worth R1.7 trillion (€21.52 billion), or 3.4% more than in 2017.
Although the market grew by 2.7% in 2017, it contracted in the two previous years.
Mobile was the biggest growth driver in 2018, growing by 5% to reach R969 billion. Meanwhile, broadband internet grew by 3.2% to R187 billion, with the subscriber base increasing by 1.8% to 34.9 million.
In the pay-TV sector, revenues grew by 10.8% to R85 billion and the number of subscribers by 2.1% to 44 million.
