Media Telecom is to become the sole distributor of Fox Network Group channels in Russia.
According to AKTR and Media Sputnik, Media Telecom is a joint venture between Rostelecom and National Media Group (NMG) and the deal with Fox includes exclusive rights for the distribution of Fox and Fox Life entertainment channels, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Baby TV in Russia.
Media Telecom has also secured the rights to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournaments for three years for Russia and nine neighbouring countries. Its plans include the development of global OTT service for Russia and the CIS named UFC Fight Pass.
Broadband TV News notes that Media Telecom was established in June 2018 by Rostelecom and NMG with the aim to produce and purchase content, launch joint channels and distribute its own and third party channels.
Media Telecom also intends to expand in the field of internet technologies, platforms and Big Data.
