Romania’s five leading electronic communications providers have joined forces for the first time to oppose a significant tax increase next year.
According to Ziarul Financiar, the rise was proposed by the Ministry of Public Finance in a draft Emergency Ordinance issued earlier this week.
Aside from the five providers – Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, RCS&RDS and UPC, which have combined annual revenues of €4 billion – the move is also opposed by 65 companies belonging to Association for Electronic Communications in Romania (ACER).
All believe it will have a negative impact on the industry and hinder the development of 5G services.
