The European Audiovisual Observatory has just published a new report, Brexit: The impact on the audiovisual sector, which is available as a free download.
On March 29, 2019 the UK will effectively leave the European Union. Given the major role played by the UK in European film production and the largest concentration of television channels in Europe in the UK, Brexit is clearly cause for considerable concern.
This brand new Brexit report asks the following questions :
– What’s the relative weight of the UK within the EU’s audiovisual markets? (number of films produced and co-productions, film exports and imports etc);
– How will the major pieces of European legislation concerning the audiovisual industries be applied post-Brexit?
– What are the main concerns raised by Brexit for UK industry stakeholders? (maintaining access to the EU market and beyond for UK audiovisual goods and services, the status of UK works in the quota system for EU films and programmes for example).
The 80-page report is available free from the website of the European Audiovisual Observatory (download will start automatically).
