Netflix has joined the programming update of Telefónica’s Movistar service. It follows May’s agreement between Netflix chairman and CEO José María Álvarez-Pallete, and the CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings.
Its debut has been accompanied by a series of promotions for new and existing customers.
Netflix is part of the new Fusión package that also includes more mobile data and an additional mobile line.
“We want to offer our customers the best of our own and third-party content. In the same way that we integrate channels, today we have taken another step by integrating a platform, entering a new world to provide customers with a simpler content consumption experience,” said María Jesús Almazor, managing director, Telefónica España.
“We want to bring the best entertainment to Spanish households and want people to enjoy their favourite series, films and documentaries,” added María Ferreras, vice president of EMEA business development for Netflix. “Today’s agreement and the new ability to easily access Netflix through the Telefónica platform makes this a reality.”
Netflix content can be surfaced both through the user interface and through search.
