NBC Universal International Networks has applied for broadcast licences for six international TV channels at Bavarian media authority BLM.
The applications, covering Syfy, E! Entertainment (2x), 13Ulica, SCIFI and DIVA, were submitted by German branch NBC Universal Global Networks Deutschland which is based in Munich, Bavaria.
A company spokesperson from NBC Universal International Networks confirmed the Brexit-related move to Broadband TV News: “Just like other Ofcom-regulated international broadcasters, we are putting options in place in preparation for whatever outcome may transpire.”
Turner Broadcasting System has also recently applied for German broadcast licences for international TV channels at BLM in the context of the ongoing Brexit negotiations. “We want to be prepared for any outcome,” a spokesman from Turner Broadcasting System Deutschland told Broadband TV News.
Irish media regulator BAI has also received its first licence application from a UK-based broadcaster seeking to maintain distribution after Brexit.
