Marking the end of an era in international IT and digital business, German industry fair CeBIT will be discontinued after 32 years.
This year’s event was the last, as Deutsche Messe AG announced in Hanover. What used to be the world’s largest computer fair has been struggling with declining exhibitor and visitor numbers in the past years.
Deutsche Messe AG wants to integrate industry-related digital topics into the Hannover Messe fair in future while specialist events will be developed for other CeBIT topics targeting decision-makers in selected industries.
With the move, the fair organiser is responding to the fact that digitisation has now reached all industries and is therefore playing a key role at practically all trade fairs and congresses, which has increasingly called CeBIT into question.
In international markets, Deutsche Messe AG intends to continue using the iconic brand for events, thus, CeBIT will not fully disappear.
