NTV-Plus/Megogo launch online kids service

November 26, 2018 09.50 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The DTH platform NTV-Plus and OTT provider Megogo have announced the start of a strategic partnership and jointly launched an extended online TV service aimed at children.

Known as Children’s Premium, the service offers 15 kids channels and over 1,300 cartoons and TV shows from Megogo’s children’s library.

Costing R299 (€3.98) a month, it is available on the ntvplus.tv website, in iOS and Android mobile applications and an Apple TV application. There are also plans to make it accessible on Android TV and smart TV platforms.

In addition to Children’s Premium, NTV Plus’s online TV service also offers viewers the extended services Cinema Premium and Night Premium. All include such features as pause, rewind and a library, as well as VOD.

In his comments, Konstantin Smirnov, director of the digital products department at NTV-Plus, said: “The combination of interesting TV channels with libraries of attractive content at a bargain price is becoming increasingly popular among our subscribers.

“For example, the share of Cinema Premium subscription four months after its launch in the product line of NTV-Plus TV was about 5%, and this is a significant success in view of the seasonal decline in sales. In the future, we are planning, together with our partners, to increase the amount of available content and make the subscription more flexible, turning it into a “designer” with a choice of various packages of TV channels and the necessary online libraries.”
