A funding method for Russia’s second DTT multiplex has finally been found 10 years after its launch.
According to Comnews, the channels present on it will from the beginning of 2019 be required to pay a combined total of R1.3 billion (€17.32 million) each year to the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS).
The coverage of the multiplex was extended on November 21 to settlements with less than 50,000 inhabitants in 20 Russian regions and it should reach the entire country by the end of the year.
Viewers will then be offered a total of 20 digital TV channels free on charge on the first two multiplexes.
