Blockbuster selects 3SS to deliver innovation roadmap for its Nordic service

November 21, 2018 10.09 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Blockbuster, owned by Denmark’s TDC Group, has appointed 3SS as long-term development partner, to enhance operation and user
experiences for subscribers across the Nordic region.

The first 3SS project was delivery of a new replacement Connected TV App, based on 3ready. Blockbuster subscribers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland who own connected TVs made by Samsung, LG Web OS, Tizen, Netcast and Orsay are the first to benefit from the new app. Phase two of the project will
cover Panasonic and Philips TVs, and possibly others.

“The app which 3SS created transforms our ability to monetize ourcontent,” said Casper Hald, Blockbuster CEO.

“We approached 3SS because of their reputation for delivering video experiences that delight consumers while enhancing operations and business potential for service providers. 3SS succeeded on all fronts and we look forward to building on this success with 3SS and to delivering further innovations for our viewers.”

“In today’s very competitive media market, consumers now expect their chosen content to be delivered as part of a seamless service that is engaging and easy to use: At the same time, providers need a technology platform that helps them maximize return on investment. We are proud that Blockbuster entrusted us to deliver a solution that would enhance its relationship with connected TV viewers, while enabling increased commercial potential,“ said Kai-Christian Borchers, Managing Director, 3SS.

Further innovations to improve Blockbuster’s functionality and commercial potential are already in planning.
