Anke Schäferkordt will leave RTL Group on December 31, 2018 after more than 13 years as CEO of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland and over 27 years with RTL.
RTL Group and Anke Schäferkordt have jointly decided, with mutual consent and under the best terms, not to renew her contract as CEO of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, according to the Luxembourg-based media company.
Bernd Reichart, currently managing director of VOX, will become the new CEO of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland. His successor as head of the German TV channel operated by RTL Group will be announced in due course.
Schäferkordts contract would have expired at the end of 2019, reports German industry newsletter new business. She is, thus, leaving RTL Group one year earlier.
“Given our very strong management team and the clear strategic direction we have jointly developed over many years, I believe that a swift transition is in the best interest of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland,” said Schäferkordt. “I am tremendously grateful and proud to have led this great company with its outstanding employees. I had the opportunity to work with exceptionally skilled and dedicated people over the years and build lasting relationships on both a professional and personal level.”
A spokesman from RTL Group declined to comment on the reason for Schäferkordt’s departure and on her future occupation.
