Octavian Rau, the director of the Moldovan regulator ANRCETI, has met with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to identify possibilities for cooperation in the field of electronic communications.
Also present in the meeting was Vatalie Tarlev, Moldova’s State Secretary the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
According to ANRCETI, the discussion centred on the development of broadband services in Moldova, ANRCETI’s planned activities for the development of broadband infrastructure and possible cooperation for the realisation of the digital inventory of broadband services.
Rau specified that the regulator is currently working on a new digital services inventory concept. This will include information on existing market providers, existing networks and services to the population and will provide a platform for access to that information both for both suppliers and users of these services.
The EBRD representatives showed interest in accelerating the development of broadband services in Moldova and are willing to provide assistance in this respect.
Previously, the EBRD financed an ANRECTI project known as the Development and Regulation of Electronic Communications in the period 2009-2011.
