One in five Spaniards believes that the public broadcaster RTVE’s channels lack variety and quality.
More precisely, according to the findings of a study undertaken by the regulator CNMC, the lack of quality is the main reason for their discontent (56%), followed by the lack of informative content (33%).
The objectivity of the news on RTVE also continues to be questioned by a significant part (30%) of the population, though CNMC points out that the study was undertaken in Q2, before the change in government and changes at the broadcaster.
Around two in five (41%) of Spaniards say they watch newscasts on RTVE channels (La1, La2, Canal24 horas and Clan TV). This is lower than in previous years, though a higher percentage (61%) say they watch RTVE channels.
CNMC also notes that the bulk of RTVE’s viewership is found among older viewers: 30% of those aged 16-24 and 76% of people aged 65 and over.
