BT has announced its new chief executive will be Philip Jansen, currently co-chief executive of payment services group Worldpay.
Jansen will join the board of the telco on January 1, 2019, working alongside current chief executive Gavin Patterson, and becoming chief executive on 1 February.
Like Patterson, Jansen spent time in the cable industry, and was managing director of Telewest’s consumer division. He has previously been CEO and then Chairman of Brakes Group and has held a variety of senior roles in Sodexo Group, latterly as Chief Operating Officer and CEO, Europe, South Africa and India.
Jan du Plessis, Chairman of BT Group said: “The Board is delighted to have appointed Philip as our new Chief Executive. He is a proven leader with outstanding experience in managing large complex businesses. Philip’s strong leadership has inspired his teams, successfully transformed businesses across multiple industries and created significant value for shareholders.”
Jansen will receive a salary of £1,100,000 per annum, and a bonus of up to 240% of salary, amongst other benefits.
