German motor sports channel Motorvision TV has joined hybrid OTT service Freenet TV Connect which complements DVB-T2 platform Freenet TV with additional channels and video-on-demand services.
Motorvision TV does, however, not offer its pay-TV channel, but instead a playlist with free short-form content and advertising, a Motorvision TV spokesman told Broadband TV News, adding that the offer is comparable with Motorvision TV’s content on Samsung’s smart TV portal TV Plus.
“The pay-TV channel with longer programmes and live broadcasts will continue to be broadcast only on pay-TV platforms,” he stressed.
After Eurosport 1 HD and Sport 1 HD, Motorvision TV is the third offer for sports fans on Freenet TV Connect. To use the OTT service, viewers need an internet connection with a data rate of at least 3Mbps as well as a Freenet TV Connect-compliant receiver, which can be identified by the corresponding logo.
A DVB T2-capable TV set with smart TV function is also suitable for reception. Viewers don’t have to register to use the service.
