Serbia’s minister of telecommunications Rasim Lajic has insisted that Telekom Srbija’s proposed acquisition of its Albanian counterpart would not pose a theat.
Speaking to the Albanian station TV Klan and quoted by the Serbian publication b92, he added that he had not heard a senior official elucidate a buyer with as statement. “We hope that the decision will be economic, not political”.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Telekom Srbija is understood to have lodged a bid of €60 million for Telekom Albania, which is backed by Deutsche Telekom. However, Edi Rama, the Albanian PM, has dismissed the idea of a take-over while at the same time supporting Serbian investment in other sectors of the Albanian economy.
