The executive committee of NorDig as approved a new version of its specifications for digital TVs and set-top boxes.
NorDig specifies a common platform for digital television to be used within the Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden) and Ireland.
Included in the specification is Next Generation Audio (NGA) based on Dolby’s AC-4 codec. It’s thought the Nordig specification is one of the first to specify IRD implementation details for NGA.
There are also updates to the latest version of HbbTV and extra security for HEVC/UHD services (CI+ ECP).
The NorDig Executive Committee has also decided to start investigating the possibilities of including High Frame Rate and dynamic HDR for HEVC during late 2019.
