The Serbian incumbent Telekom Srbija has confirmed that it is interested in buying its counterpart in Albania.
Quoted by B92, it said: “the goal of Telekom Srbija is to position itself as a regional leader in the field of telecommunications. We have submitted a proposal and are under review”.
Pedrag Culibrk, the general manager of Telekom Srbija, recently said that the company has significantly reduced its indebtedness and assessed the conditions for a new cycle of investment. He added that the telco was looking at the acquisition of operators in Serbia and Republika Srbska (Bosnia & Herzegovina).
Telekom Albania is the second largest operator in Albania after Vodafone. Formerly known as AMC, it is backed by Greece’s Cosmote (Deutsche Telekom).
