Reed Hastings has revealed that Netflix will shortly reopen an office in France after a two-year absence from the country.
Speaking to Le Point, he added that it would be inaugurated in 2019 in Paris or the Paris region and employ around 20 people.
Netflix currently has its European headquarters in Amsterdam and also an office in London. Its French plans include investment in the acquisition of three films, a documentary by Stéphane de Freitas and the production of new French series.
Hastings also said he said he welcomed the competition that that the new the new streaming Salto from France Televisions will bring to the French market.
Speaking more generally, he added that Netflix spent $8 billion on production this year and aims to spend even more in 2019, with fiction filmed in 4K part of its priorities.
