The Spanish regulator CNMC has launched disciplinary proceedings against five of the country’s leading operators.
In a statement, it says that it as taken action against Telefonica, Vodafone, Vodafone Ono, Orange and Xfera “for possible breaches of their obligations to supply their subscriber data through the SGDA, the susbcriber data management system managed by the CNMC.”
It adds that SGDA is a computer platform used by, among others, emergency services, operators that prepare telephone directories and those that provide telephone consultation services on subscriber numbers, in order to have up-to-date information on operators’ customers. All operators using numbering contained in the National Numbering Plan must provide the updated data of their subscribers to the SGDA.
CNMC says that the initiation of the disciplinary proceedings does not prejudice the final outcome of the investigation, which will take up to 12 months.
