Kaltura powers Viacom18’s VOOT

Viacom18’s VOOT Cloud TV service is using Kaltura for its on demand service, already home to 37 million active users.

The VOOT proposition includes split-screen delivery, tailored experiences for kids through VOOT kids, and Progressive Web Apps (PWA) including offline support, that allow an app-like experience within the mobile browser, available on a wide range of Android devices.

“VOOT is truly a phenomenon – the speed at which it is being adopted and continues to grow definitely validates our Cloud TV strategy.” said Mohit Srivastava, Head – Product and Engineering, Viacom18 Digital Ventures, adding, “Kaltura’s technology and expertise help us stay ahead of the curve with innovative features and enhancements while continuously optimizing performance and usability. We look forward to pioneering the next generation of Cloud TV together.”

VOOT is now looking to take its blend of exclusive original content, international series and movies across the globe.

Viacom Inc is a 49% shareholder in Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd, a joint venture which TV18, which owns 51%.
