Ukraine’s National Council has temporarily suspended the distribution of the Russian language channel RTVI in the country for six months.
In a statement, the regulator says it will inform its counterpart in the UK, where the channel is registered, about its decision.
The National Council adds that it has acted due to RTVI’s systematic violations of Ukrainian and European legislation between February 2, 2017 and August 26, 2018.
Furthermore, it repeated contacted Sonar, the distributor of RTV1 in Ukraine, and Benrose, the copyright holder, about these violations.
RTVI is an international Russian language TV channel.
It has its roots in NTV International, which was operated by the Russian national commercial broadcaster NTV.
