Danish OTT and VOD solutions provider Xstream has extended its end-to-end OTT platform MediaMaker with the server-side ad insertion system developed by German digital video distribution solutions provider Nowtilus.
The solution enables broadcasters, platform operators and publishers to serve targeted ads to viewers, providing a way of monetising live linear TV and video-on-demand (VOD), both in MPEG-DASH and HLS content streams.
By adding advertising-based VOD, OTT providers can offer personalised streams and precisely targeted ads. Prior to insertion, the ads are transcoded and packaged exactly like the original stream, ensuring best end-user experience on all devices, according to the companies.
The scalable cloud-based solution integrates with any existing ad-serving or delivery components. It is offered with a software-as-a-service pricing model to keep costs under control while the customer’s business is growing.
