Czech Digi drops AMC channels

September 3, 2018 08.42 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech DTH and IPTV platform operator Digi CZ has withdrawn channels belonging to AMC Networks from its line-up.

In a statement, it says its decision to withdraw Minimax, JimJam, Spektrum, Spektrum Home, CBS Reality, TV Paprika, AMC, Film +, Megamax, Sports 1 and Sport 2 follows the failure to reach an agreement with AMC Networks. As of September 3, the channels have been replaced by Filmbox Family, Epic Drama HD, TUTY TV, Fightbox, Food Network, Docubox, Discovery Turbo Extra, E !, Auto Motor Sport and Digi Sport 2 HD.

It adds that taking into account customer preferences and the quality and viewing of channels, it has also strengthened its sporting offer by adding Digi Sport 2 to its basic package as part of an unlimited promotion.

In other important changes, Digi CZ is making all channels from Nova, the leading broadcaster in the Czech Republic, available in HD from October 1.

Furthermore, from September until the end of the year it will offer eight channels – Nova Sport 2 HD, Crime and Investigation, Auto Motor Sport, Premium HD Movie, Discovery Turbo Extra, DoQ, Fine Living and Filmbox Family – on a promotional basis to all customers. They are currently found in the Extra and Sport packages.
