German ISP 1&1 Telecom and TV streaming provider Zattoo have joined Deutsche TV-Plattform. The German industry association now has a total of 57 members.
“We are very pleased that 1&1 and Zattoo are now members of Deutsche TV-Plattform. The classic TV industry and the internet economy are growing together. It is therefore important for shaping the future to exchange ideas with all market players,” said Andre Prahl, chairman of Deutsche TV-Plattform.
“Thanks to its broad membership base, the association is predestined to identify common interests and work out topics that can be better solved jointly than alone,” added Prahl.
Deutsche TV-Plattform’s members include public and commercial broadcasters, streaming providers, hardware manufacturers, infrastructure operators, service and technology providers, research institutes and universities, federal and state authorities and other companies, associations and institutions involved with digital media.
The association’s current focus topics include the potential of 5G for the media and entertainment industry, addressable TV and the relevance of control data and programme-accompanying metadata as well as the ongoing standardisation of Ultra HD/HDR and the production and increasing availability of Ultra HD content.
