The Polish national commercial broadcaster Polsat plans to add three more channels to its portfolio before the end of the year.
Quoting Maciej Stec, a member of the board at Cyfrowy Polsat, Wirtualne Media reports that SmartDom, Polsat Rodzina and Polsat Games should make their debuts in the fourth quarter.
SmartDom will be an information-based channel and use the same brand name as SmartDom, a bundled offer from Cyfrowy Polsat that has 1.5 million customers and includes utilities and bank services as well as TV and internet.
Meanwhile, Polsat Rodzina (‘Polsat Family’) will be a universal channel and Polsat Games will focus on esports.
Stec said that Polsat aims to take esports increasingly seriously, while Wirtualne Media understands that the broadcaster plans to organise its own esports events.
Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) awarded 10-year cable and DTH licences to the three channels in June.
