According to the company, the first release of the application includes the basic functionality of the NTV-Plus online TV service, namely the purchase of TV subscriptions and watching TV channels. Subscribers can use pause, rewind and catch-up for those TV channels that have granted the corresponding rights. Registration in the app is via email and one account allows viewers to watch TV channels both on large screens using Android TV and on smartphones and tablets via the mobile app NTV-Plus TV.
NTV-Plus says that it is not necessary to be a satellite subscriber to access the service, with anyone being able to connect to NTV-Plus TV. The way to access them is to subscribe to the multiscreen Online TV and watch TV channels in accordance with their satellite subscription.
It adds that it is planned to expand the functionality of NTV-Plus TV for Android TV in the next 2-3 months and to bring it into line with the capabilities of the mobile application. Furthermore, the serial video library Amediathek and sports broadcasts and highlights will be added to the service.
In a separate development, NTV-Plus has announced changes to its Economical package. From September 1, it will include nine more channels, among the them the Ultra HD channels Home 4K, Fashion 4K and Festival 4K.
At the same time, the cost of the package will be increased by R12.5 (€0.16) a month and amount to R750 a year.
