Online ad spend in Russia exceeded that for TV the first time in H1 this year.
Figures published by the Association of Communication Agencies in Russia (AKAR) show that total ad spend in the first six months of 2018, net of VAT, amounted to R219 billion (€2.79 billion), or 13% more than in the corresponding period in 2017.
Internet spend was in the range R90.5-91.5 billion (+21%), while that for TV R90-91 billion (+13%).
Within the latter, the main channels accounted for R86.5-87.5 billion (+12%) and thematic services R3.3-3.4 billion (+46%).
While radio spend grew by 2% year on year to R7.5-7.7 billion, press fell by 9.1% to R8.9-9.1 billion.
Interestingly, the biggest loss was recorded on the OOH transport sector (-23%), though OOH as a whole grew by 1% to R21-21.4 billion.
