KiKA, the children’s channel jointly operated by German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF, is now bundling its on-demand content in a catch-up TV service.
The KiKA-Player is initially accessible on smart TV sets suitable for the HbbTV standard. From autumn 2018, the commercial-free service will become available on the internet and as an app for smartphones and tablets.
The KiKA-Player complements the KiKANiNCHEN app the channel has been offering for pre-school children since December 2017.
[UPDATE] October 16, 2018: The KiKA-Player has launched today as a free app for smartphones and tablets (iOS/Android).
