Magyar Telekom’s TV revenues in its home market Hungary amounted to HUF11.5 billion (€40 million) in the second quarter, or 3.5% more than in the corresponding period last year.
In its latest set of results, the company says that an expansion of the customer base was offset by declines in ARPU levels. As of June 30, its Hungarian unit MT-Hungary had a total of 1,044,919 TV customers (+3.8% year-on-year), while TV ARPU in Q2 was, at HUF3,461, 0.9% lower than a year earlier. Meanwhile, in Macedonia its TV customer base grew by 8.3% to 121,734 in the year to June 30. At the same time, TV revenues grew by 19.3% as ARPU continued to increase.
Magyar Telekom’s total TV revenues in the two countries amounted to HUF11.8 billion in Q2, or 4.7% more year-on-year, driven by the growing IPTV subscriber base. The group had total revenues of HUF167,713 million in Q2 (+9.2%). EBITDA was HUF51,012 million (+6.6%) and profit HUF4,599 million (+42.1%).
