Financial reward for Russia’s Tricolor TV

August 8, 2018 09.06 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Tricolor TV’s transition from a single-product business to a multiplatform operator bore fruit in the first half of this year.

Results published by the company, which is the leading pay-TV operator in Russia, show that its revenues in H1 amounted to R8.88 billion (€120.6 million), or 4% more than in the same period last year.

Its subscriber base stood at 12.246 million households as of June 30, slightly down on the previous year, with the number of HD subscribers having risen to 9.9 million. Meanwhile, ARPU was R1,590.

Its offer included 262 TV channels, 42 of which were in HD and seven in Ultra HD.

Tricolor TV says that it continues to work actively on the implementation of a new development strategy to create a single information space for entertainment and services for the whole family.

Given that the model of consumption of content in Russia is changing rapidly and new users appear that do not use a satellite connection, it is paying close attention to the internet.

As a result, over 63%, or about 7.8 million people, of Tricolor TV’s subscriber base can access its services via the internet.
