Zoomin.TV to cooperate with Baidu

August 1, 2018 14.35 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Zoomin.TV and Baidu Baijiahao have signed a strategic cooperation to produce an original series of 144 episodes exclusively for Baidu’s Haokan platform.

The original short-form series will be called Amazing China Stories and will be comprised of 12 episodes per month for a period of one year. The episodes will showcase the empowering and inspiring Generation Z stories of Chinese living abroad, domestic pioneers, international fans of Chinese culture and other compelling stories relevant to China’s Gen Z.

The deal was announced during a press conference held in Beijing. The event signals Baidu’s next step towards enhancing the content offered on its original content platform Baijiahoa and its short-form content platform Haokan. It also marks another milestone for Zoomin.TV’s Original Gen Z Series content strategy and distribution in China.

Regarding the cooperation with Zoomin.TV, Dr. Shen Dou, the Vice President of Baidu commented: “This joint production of short format video results from the positive values both parties share and also signifies the progress Baidu is making in the field of short formats.”

Roger Lodewick, Zoomin.TV CEO continues, “This strategic cooperation with Baidu is our next step in showing Generation Z in China that we’re the main source of compelling, positive and relevant short-form content created especially for them. Baidu and its Baijiahao and Haokan platforms is a great partner for that. The ‘Amazing China Stories’ showcases the uniqueness of our outstanding global network of video journalists. We have over 3,000 VJs searching for untold and life-enriching stories in more than 110 countries. Together with our award-winning production department at our HQ in Amsterdam, we’re producing this incredible content that will enrich the Chines Gen Z’s perception of their culture, community, and legacy.”
