The Latvian incumbent Lattelecom is making channels from All Media Baltics available in HD to its subscribers.
The channels in question – TV3, LNT, TV6, Channel 2 and 3+, as well as TV1000 Premium and Viasat Sport Baltic – will initially be offered to customers of Lattelecom Interactive TV, Helio iTV and Shortcut.
Commenting on the development, Juris Gulbis, chairman of the board of Lattelecom, said: “HD is a TV of today, so we are delighted that the Latvian-language channels are increasingly moving to HD broadcasting. So watching sports events can be as good as being on-the-spot in the crowd from a distance, and films will become especially alive. With the new HD channels we now offer 50 to our customers, which is very important for TV viewers”.
Baiba Zuzena, All Media Baltics CEO, added: “We, as the greatest source of domestic entertainment and news content, are truly pleased to offer our contemporary TV viewing experience to Latvian viewers. By investing in the acquisition of modern technology, we can now produce and broadcast our HDTV channels. We are delighted that Lattelecom viewers will be the first to appreciate the quality of all the programmes we offer on our TV channels. ”
