The Czech Republic’s O2 TV can expect to see further growth in the take-up of its IPTV and OTT services following the acquisition of exclusive broadcasting rights to several popular sports in the first half of this year.
These include the UEFA Champions League, ice hockey Tisport League and Czech football Fortuna League.
Latest results published by the company show that it had 250,000 IPTV and OTT customers as of the end of June. When the complementary Multiservice, which allows customers to watch TV on multiple TV sets at the same time, was factored in (over 37,000), O2 TV had 287,000 active set-top boxes.
O2 TV’s operator O2 had operating revenues of CZK18,599 million (€725.2 million) in the first half of this year, or 0.6% than in the corresponding period in 2017.
Its EBITDA was CZK5,378 million (+5.6%) and net profit CZK2,776 million (+5.4%).
