Eurosport 4K debuts in Russia

July 23, 2018 07.03 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV has become the first operator in the country to offer its subscribers Eurosport 4K.

According to Tricolor TV, the 24-hour channel is being broadcast in partnership with Media Alliance, one of the leading companies in Russia’s pay-TV market, and became available to subscribers of the Ultra HD package from July 20.

It adds that Tricolor TV was the first company in Russia, and one of the first in the world, to launch a package of 4K Ultra HD channels in 2015.

Prior to Eurosport 4K, it was already offering viewers six channels in the format.

Mikhail Goryachev, the director of content at Tricolor TV, said that the launch of Eurosport 4K is an experiment that the company hopes will attract more viewers to Ultra HD.

From August 3, the channel will be available to subscribers to the Ultra HD and Single Ultra HD packages.

Significantly, Eurosport 4K is the first Ultra HD channel offered by Tricolor TV to its customers in Siberia.
