RTL UHD to show live football matches

German commercial broadcaster RTL willl transmit four football matches live on its linear Ultra HD test channel.

The first match will be the friendly game between record champion FC Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the Allianz Arena in Munich on August 5, 2018. The coverage will start at 20.00 CET.

On August 28, Bastian Schweinsteiger (pictured) will play his farewell match in which his current club Chicago Fire will take on FC Bayern Munich.

RTL UHD will also show games of Germany’s national team, starting with the friendly match against Peru on September 9. On November 15, the German team will meet Russia in Leipzig.

RTL UHD can be received via satellite exclusively on German DTH platform HD+ on Astra (19.2° East). The football matches are broadcast using the HDR format Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG).

RTL UHD which launched in April 2018 also shows all Formula 1 races of the current season live.
