A new version of BT TV’s mobile app will allow customers to view content on the go – but there’s a new £5 monthly fee if viewers want to watch via Samsung smart TVs, Apple TV or Google Chromecast.
BT TV App Extra, which will later be extended to Amazon’s Fire products, will allow subscribers to cast their channel line to up to four 3rd party devices on top of the set-top box.
Customers will be able to download and play films and box sets purchased or rented from the BT TV Store on any device through the BT TV app when out and about as well as at home.
Pete Oliver, Managing Director of BT Marketing and Sales said: “We’re giving customers unrivalled choice and flexibility in how they experience and watch their favourite content. Our new TV app brings BT’s fantastic entertainment and sport to multiple screens enabling customers to watch in more places than ever before”.
Existing users of the BT TV app will receive the new feature via an app update on their device.
