T-Mobile NL launches TV Anywhere with Apple TV

July 6, 2018 07.14 Europe/London By Robert Briel

T-Mobile in the Netherlands has launched an TV app for Apple TV 4: TV Anywhere, enabling consumers to watch television via Apple TV in addition to the interactive TV box.

The new TV Everywhere service comes as part of the T-Mobile Thuis (Home) product. The move to introduce the platform on Apple TV was first reported in May.

TV Anywhere lets viewers watch TV on three devices at the same time, including smartphone, tablet and large screen via Chromecast and Apple TV. This will enable consumers to watch television anywhere, on any device. From mid-August it will also be possible to use TV Anywhere via desktop and laptop.

The company said that the launch of TV Anywhere for Apple TV 4 is in line with T-Mobile’s philosophy of pushing boundaries and removing consumer restrictions. With the new extensions, T-Mobile offers its customers complete freedom and flexibility to watch TV wherever they want it.

“Apple TV 4 is the best solution for TV, Netflix, and Youtube in a way that everyone, even my mother, understands. In addition to the high image quality, user-friendliness is a real breath of fresh air,” said Tisha van Lammeren, director consumer marketing. TV Anywhere is a standard part of T-Mobile Thuis’s TV service and provides access to 29 channels available live and 7 days back throughout the EU.

The TV Anywhere is being developed in collaboration with Red Bee Media, the Apple TV app was developed by Stoneroos for T-Mobile’s streaming service Knippr, and is after a refresh now available to all T-Mobile Thuis customers.
