Doubts have emerged about the future of the Hungarian news channel Hír TV.
BBJ reports that it is the last media outlet still owned by the entrepreneur Lajos Simicska, who according to a public statement has decided to sell his companies and investments to Zsolt Nyerges, a long-term business partner, for an undisclosed amount. It adds that Simicska was formerly close to the PM Viktor Orbán before falling out three years ago. Nyerges, however, still maintains good relations with Orbán.
Simicska has since sold all but one of his media assets, which included the daily newspaper Magyar Nemzet and radio station Lánchíd.
It now remains to be seen if Nyerges will continue to keep Hír TV open or close it down.
