RO-NET, the major infrastructure project being undertaken by Telekom Romania with the help of European funds, is now likely to be completed on time.
Quoted by Ziarul Financiar, Ovidiu Ghiman, the commercial director of Telekom Romania’s business segment, said that the company has completed construction in nearly 500 locations and believes it can reach 650-670 by September.
He added that he trusts the Ministry of Communications will sign all the documents regarding the works in time and also settle of the project’s expenses. In effect, Telekom Romania is now relying on the Ministry to make the effort to stay ahead of schedule.
RO-NET, which has a budget of tens of millions of euros from European funds, aims to connect around 700 isolated rural locations to a fibre-optic network.
However, as previously reported by Broadband TV News, its funding was blocked for several months due to bureaucratic reasons.
