The World Cup in Russia has helped BeIN Sports France pass 4 million subscribers, the sports channel has announced.
“In just 6 years, we have attracted more than 4 million subscribers”, said president Yousef Al Obaidly, in a statement. “This success allows beIN Sports, the flagship brand of beIN Mediagroup, to settle permanently in the French market. Now present in 43 countries, beIN Sports continues to grow.”
BeIN’s pay-TV coverage has been helped by the progress of the French team that will play Uraquay in the quarter-finals on Friday.
However, whoever lifts the FIFA World Cup Trophy, BeIN faces a reduction in its coverage of French top-flight football from 2020, and the challenge to keep subscribers at the current level.
