Dan Strömberg to head Telia Lithuania

July 4, 2018 09.47 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Dan Strömberg has been appointed the new CEO of Telia Lietuva (Lithuania), effective July 4.

He has replaced Kestutis Sliuzas, who has left the post and decided to face new challenges

Commenting on the appointment, Strömberg said: “I am happy and I am eager to take on this challenge and return to Lithuania, where I’ve spent some years before. I really enjoy this country and I believe that in our activities we have many untapped digitisation, service integration and technological innovation opportunities that will make our clients’ life easier and more comfortable”.

Sliuzas said: “For me it has been a dynamic, successful and very interesting five years. We implemented a very important cultural change and started the digital transformation that needs to be continued. The business is moving in the right direction and has a lot of potential in the future. It is believed that 4-5 years is the optimal period for a leader, so I decided to take on new ideas and challenges, because I am sure that the rapid development of Telia Lietuva will continue. Thank you very much to the team, to all our customers and partners”.

Henriette Wendt, chairman of Telia Lietuva’s board, continued: “I would like to warmly congratulate Dan Strömberg and at the same time thank Kestutis Sliuzas and his team for their achievements. The company’s finances and brand are as strong as ever. Our customers really appreciated last year’s unique offer of Telia One for the first time on the market. The company has successfully rebuilt and most of the two business combinations have already been implemented. In Lithuania, Kestutis Sliuzas helped to replace Telia with a truly modern company, which under his leadership made several important steps towards the digital era. His achievements have laid a solid foundation for the next stage of development and digitisation, along with the whole Telia Company.

“I am convinced that Dan Strömberg’s experience in Estonia will be well utilised to further develop Telia’s digitisation efforts and ensure our position as an innovative company”.

Strömberg was most recently head of Telia Eesti, prior to which, between 2013-15, he headed Omnitel in Lithuania.

He was head of Telia’s broadband business between 2009-12 and has accumulated over 25 years experience working for Telia.
