1+1 Media Group is to act as the exclusive distributor of the Viacom channel Spike in Ukraine.
In a statement, the Ukrainian broadcaster says that an adapted version of the channel will be made available to Ukrainian viewers for a soon as September 1.
It adds that Spike’s entry into Ukraine’s TV market is part of Viacom’s global policy of promoting the channel and strengthening its strategic partnership with 1+1 Media.
Spike will initially have 30% of its content localised into the Ukrainian language, with the remainder in English. However, the amount of localised content will be increased over time, with the localisation funded by revenues obtained from the channel’s distribution.
Meanwhile, its video library, which has over 1,200 hours of premium content, will be available fully in Russian.
Spike is distributed on Astra A4 and employs Verimatrix conditional access.
