The Formula 1 organisation has launched an investigation into the illegal broadcasts by Saudi broadcaster BeoutQ.
The signal was apparently taken from Bein Sport, the Qatar broadcaster that owns the exclusive F1 rights for the Middle East and North Africa region.
In a statement, the Liberty Media owned organisation said “It has come to our attention that certain Formula 1 content has been illegally transmitted by the channel known as beoutQ operating primarily within the MENA region.
“beoutQ has not acquired any rights from Formula 1 to transmit coverage of the Formula 1 World Championship. Formula 1 takes intellectual property infringement of this nature extremely seriously, we are looking in to the issue and those that are involved and will take appropriate action.”
BeoutQ has already been in the headlines last week week with football’s FIFA and a number of broadcasters claiming the channel was illegally showing World Cup 2018 matches.
