Lithuania ended the first quarter with 705,600 subscribers to pay-TV services.
According to data produced by the country’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), this was down from the 711,000 total posted a year earlier.
The number of cable subscribers stood at 366,700 (379,700), of who 208,700 (181,800) were digital.
While there was growth in the take-up of IPTV services (up from 211,900 to 235,100), all other modes of reception saw falls in the year to March 31.
Satellite TV had 64,200 subscribers (71,700) at the end of Q1, DVB-T 29,900 (37,300) and MDTV 9,700 (10,900).
Cable TV was still the main mode of reception, used by 52% of subscribers, though its share was down from the 53.4% a year earlier.
IPTV was the next popular with 33.3% (29.8%), followed by satellite TV 9.1% (10.1%), DVB-T 4.2% (5.3%) and MDTV 1.4% (1.5%).
Telia was the leading provider of pay-TV services, claiming a market share of 34.3% (32.3%). It was followed by Cgates (20.4% v 20.3% in Q1 2017) and Init (9.9% v 10.8%).
Cgates was the leading cable operator with a market share of 37.1% (35.6%), while Telia claimed the lion’s share of the IPTV market at 90.4% (91.2%).
Pay-TV revenues in Q1 amounted to €16.45 million, down from €16.81 million a year earlier.
Cable claimed €6.95 million (€6.98 million), IPTV €5.8 million (€5.87 million), satellite TV €2.64 million (€2.73 million), DVB-T €0.80 million (€0.97 million) and MDTV €0.25 million (€0.26 million).
