Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR has sold a large part of its shareholding in SwissMediaCast (SMC) to commercial radio operators.
SMC plans, builds and operates terrestrial transmitter networks for digital radio standard DAB+ in German-speaking Switzerland. The company also handles the tranmission of radio channels for commercial broadcasters and for individual SRG channels.
SRG previously held a 29% stake in SMC. The buyers of the shares are Zürichsee Medien, Radio Ostschweiz, Radio Pilatus, Radio 32, Radio Sunshine, Radio Top, ERF Switzerland and Radio Eviva. SRG still owns 10% of SMC.
