One year after Sport1 US HD, German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will also remove sister channel Sport1+ HD from its platform.
“We regularly analyse and evaluate our partner channel portfolio on the basis of various quantitative and qualitative aspects. As a result, Sky Deutschland has decided not to extend the distribution of Sport1+ HD beyond the end of June 2018,” a Sky spokesman told German web portal Quotenmeter.de. He did not give any concrete reasons.
A Sport1 spokesman added: “Sport1+ will no longer be available at Sky from the end of June as we were unable to reach an agreement with Sky regarding the renewal of the distribution.”
The pay-TV channel will continue to be carried in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Vodafone, Unitymedia, Deutsche Telekom, A1 Telekom Austria and UPC. A subscription-based live-stream is also available on the Sport1 website.
An addition to Sky Deutschland’s line-up from July 1, 2018 will be documentary channel Spiegel TV Wissen.
